A note from editor Dave Branon
Sometimes guys just need to get together. Maybe it’s a chance to watch a football game together at the stadium. Or head into the fields to see how many deer you can scare away. It might even be lunch with some friends at your favorite burger joint. Men sometimes need to just get away and talk about guy things. Stand Strong is a guy thing get-together.
This is a chance to hang out with nineteen guys who like to write about how God works in our lives as we share with you and our other buddies what it means to live for Jesus. It’s guys with all kinds of different backgrounds talking about the one truly important thing.
Among the men writing Stand Strong is a guy who loves fly fishing and all things outdoors, one who can’t talk to you long before mentioning his black Lab Max, and another who is president of a university (see the variety?).
We’ve got a guy who loves staying in primitive cabins, a couple of guys who played college sports (basketball and soccer), and one who has eight children. There’s the cancer survivor who still plays lunchtime hoops, there’s the author of Eric Liddell’s biography, and there’s a guy who loves to fish on Lake Michigan. A guy from Africa, a guy from Singapore, a guy from England.
These guys will talk with you about purpose in life, the majesty of God’s creation, the fullness of life in Jesus Christ, and hundreds of other topics. So pull up an old stump for a seat, and sit around the campfire with your friends. Watch a new world of fellowship with God open up before you as together we step away from our busy world and take a spiritual retreat together. Stand strong!
